Your humble author has big dreams but a short attention span.

Let's start with a 1,000 foot view of the Werewolves of Calcite Springs. Trina's transformation story started in roughly 2010, when I took a fiction writing class and couldn't resist putting my own spin on the werefolk origin story.

Trina is the "stranger in a strange land" who learns about the existence of the supernatural through a traumatic encounter in the woods. She survives and is filled with hope about the new world before her.

Max is a seasoned werewolf but he's not so great with people. His story (the second in the series) will center on his struggle to connect with those who care about him - which also might be the secret to unlocking a deeper magic. His book is tentatively planned for release on September 15, 2026.

Cassidy is a born leader running from responsibility. She's aggressive but tactical and effective. What will she do when she receives the call to adventure, delivered by a mild-mannered werecat?

Aside from our main trio of heroes, the Calcite Springs cast of characters keeps growing. Max has bonsus grannies, Cassidy has barista buddies in town, and there's at least two other packs in their shared backyard.

Fun facts about the Calcite Springs Universe:

  • Most werefolk know that President Roosevelt was a closeted werebear.

  • National Parks in the United States are neutral zones for werefolk packs.

  • Modern werefolk have a toxic alpha male problem - they're just like us!

  • Witches, Dryads, and the occasional vampire will appear in this series at some point.

But Andrea, what genre is the Calcite Springs Universe?

I love me some labels, but only as guideposts, not fences. There's gonna be elements of action, horror, romantasy, and (I hope) comedy.

Happy tales,

-Andrea
